The draw for the champ is total wrong
Look at Qfinals all the back door team against each other, why was it not seeded???
The county board should relegate to teams this year to bring it back to 16 teams and remove the prelim round in 2015

I agree with that. It seems totally unfair for example that one of Kingscourt and Ramor who play each other and have won all their games will bow out after losing ONE game while others can go through having lost twice.

yous are both correct but as the old sayings goes you have to beat the best to be the best.

If the CB are going to stick with the current format, they must change the open draw for the quarter finals. Teams getting straight through to the quarter finals should have an advantage and get drawn against a team through the back door. Then have an open draw for the semi's if they want. Just makes sense.

Evanno11 - Castlerahan have probably been the unluckiest team in the championship so far. Played most of the matches to date without key players, eg, Cian Mackey, Ronan Flanagan, Sean Brady and David Wright. Beaten by a point by a very good Kingscourt team, beaten by a point after a replay by another very good side Ramor Utd and beaten by a point after extra time by championship specialists Mullahoran. Had Castlerahan had all of their key players available and fit they would have gave the championship a good run and most likely would not have been involved in the back door scenario. This is the luck of the draw (albeit bad luck) and they just have to suck it up, but not many club teams could afford to line out for championship matches against the opposition mentioned without players of their calibre.
The county board also need to look at how they have managed the fixtures in this years championship in particular. They talk about player burnout and respecting their players yet they expect amateur players (who remember have to get up to go to work daily) to play 3 games + extra time in a week ? The same situation arises this week with Lavey & Ballinagh playing again on Wednesday night and the winners facing into the quarter final at the weekend. Players prepare diligently for championship football to ensure they can perform to the best of their ability. I'm not sure the brains behind the fixture list really give a damn.

People move on from all the talk about Castlerahan . They are out, its QF weekend, why no talk about the up coming games.

Ok Jim Shorts - hope your predictions are a lot better than your last post - these were your predictions.
"Mullahoran V loser Ramor/Castlerahan - If Mullahoran v Ramor fancy Mullahoran. If against Castlerahan i fancy Castlerahan
Ballinagh V Lavey - Ballinagh
Killygarry v Crosserlough - Crosserlough (if Martin Reilly is available for Killygarry it will be close and could go either way)
Gowna v cuchullians - Gowna"
(Obviously an expert)

The fixture issue is related to player welfare and is of relevance to all teams who are competing in the championship and expected to play 3 games in a week. I'm sure Lavey & Ballinagh are very happy to be still involved but would appreciate an extra week rather than the county board ramming their fixture program through

There is an appeal. The Cavan CCC have broke a lot of rules regarding fixtures. Look what happened in Laois. A very dangerous precedent and our County Board have only themselves to blame.

Mullahorn will be happy anyway, they played Castlerahan last sunday after Castlerahan had played 2 games already that week and now they will play Ballinagh/Lavey with them also having played 2 games during the week

That's not Mullahoran's fault or problem. Hopefully this farcical situation will not happen again. Perhaps in future playing a couple rounds earlier in year might help instead of having club players at the mercy of the county team and fixture committee.

What rules were broken, Dora?? I saw the article re Laois which was about giving teams a bye in the Championship. Pretty serious...Will the Cavan Senior Championship have to be re started?

There a seven day turnaround rule. Also extra time half time cannot be more than five minutes. Also issue with first half being blown up early.

Think the rule for replays is 4 days. And i would imagine half time in extra time was longer due to the fact the park was in darkness. Maybe "why" won't matter if they appeal it. Didn't know first half was blown up early.

Sorry replays have to have at least 96 hours notice. Seen as replay three days after the rule has being broke. Also club championship fixtures is five days notice. Again this was broke. All outlined in gaa rule book part one and the running of extra time also.

Other counties play championship games on Monday nights in order to observe the rule. As far as I'm concerned Mullahoran won the game on the pitch. However next year this cannot happen again. Ballinagh Lavey also will be playing Sunday within five days. Their replay will observe the four day rule.

Lights went out at 9 minutes on the clock in the first half of et and the ref called half time when this happened. It is stated in the rule book that a minimum of 10 minutes has to be played in each period of extra time. Another rule broken. I think Castlerhan are well entitled to appeal and would not be one bit surprised if a replay results as they can highlight at least 3 rule breakers. Any other team in the same situation would do the same. None of this is Mullahorans fault its soaley the county board and officials.

That's certainly an issue but the clock on the scoreboard is not the official time keeper of a game. Did the Ref have the same time? Another question on turnaround. Does the rule state an actual 5 days between games or 5 days notice of a game..

SS1 the whole senior and intermediate championship may have to be started if the precedent in Laois is followed. Swanlibar had to play three games in a week also.

Very true, Dora. But again, does the rule state that an actual 5 days between games is required or 5 days notice of a game is required. (Same question for replays with the 4 days)
