Don't get your point Sean . Everyone is making the same commitment and everyone is free to go where they like but there must be clarity from the off when so much combined effort is put into the setup . Very simple concept .
You cannot just ignore the investment put into a county setup either and there must be commitment . God forbid some Cavan player breaks a leg or does a cruciate first game they are involved in over the water . Who picks up the tab ? Who pays for the specialists later on in the year ? The physios ? The nutritionists ? The gym memberships ? The mileage ? Who gets these players back on their feet ?
You ask us to spare a thought for the other lads on the squad . Someone is going to have to fill in and someone will be drafted into the panel if you have players leave . What will you say to these lads next January when we have a full squad again ? " Oh yeah! About last year , thanks for that . Now make way boy! "

Call it what ever you like if they wish to travel good luck to them if they are available next October great why not. If they are injured why bring them back onto the panel. Over the years enough have been carried and not replaced so room for them it would seem.
I will say this again if they want to travel while they are young feel free to do so we need them when they are around 24 /25 good strong mature men.

He's finishing college and its the last opportunity for him to go. Let him go and wish him well. We have a strong enough panel to cope with this. He's a loss but there are lads chomping at the bit on the sub's bench.

Agree with you BreffniGuide on the condition that this was his stance from January . There is a bigger picture here . The county setup is not some jolly .

He's a huge loss to the panel. It sickens me to think that a decision like this could be made with so little care for what it'll do to his club and county teams, as well as the supporters morale. Does anyone know what part he's going to?

you really need to get a life !!! If he was injured and not available the show would go on - the show will still go on - though we had a great panel !!
He's right to go, earn some money, experience life and enjoy himself. I'd advise any other young lad to do the same

We're not going to win Ulster or Sam this year - THIS YEAR - so he's dead right to go. Club football is in a shambles thanks to the new leagues so little to look forward to - not being pesimistic - realistic !!!

Remember most of these lads have a 12 month sporting year - College, U21, club, McKenna cup, league, club leagues, championship, club chaampionship and back into college ball again -- GAA is a past time, not a lively hood but we demand them to behave and train like professionals -for what ??
Redicule by supporters on an off day, abused by supporters for taking a break, and whats at the end of it all - nothing !!!

Giving up your life, especially the formative years, will not advance your career or pay the bills.
There are more importnt things in life than football. Some day you might be lucky enough to realise that.

Go West young man - Go West !!!! or even East or South - but while you can - GO !!!!

That's very cringeworthy stuff in all fairness. Sure send the whole Cavan team to America next year while your at it.

they are not under contract~ they are free agents ~ if they want to go none of us can stop them and in all fairness who could blame them for making a life for themselves.
Rumours of givney heading to ballymun for career opportunities and from speaking to mountnugent people they understand the move. They rather he would stay but dont begrudge him the chance to a make a life for himself. Our own club lost Lorcan Mulvey a few years ago to emmigration but what was he to do, stay at home and sign on the dole.
So i suggest you look at the big picture, understand it from their position. They are young men, talented athletes, many highly qualified and have their lives in front of them. So why wouldnt they go.

He is entilted to go where he wants - most players club or County usually have a fair idea a few months in advance. Good luck to him. If you are happy to see a few Cavan players go to America every summer from now on and damage the chances of progress in Ulster then fair enough. The player wanted to go last summer, so shouldn't have make himself available this year for Senior County if he intended to go this summer.

I'm not happy to see any young lad leave, but its a fact of life.
Take a look around your own clucb, how many have gone in recent years or are you lucky none have left.
A friend of mine showed me a website at the weekend which lists the transfers withing the gaa. Most of them i'm afraid are out of the country.
Unfortunately its a fact of life and whether its recession related or not, young lads will want to travel and experience life.
Who can blame them.

EXIT

Well all the rumours were true and Killian Clarke heads of to Boston for the summer. Best of luck to him. I think at this stage he probably has enough of football for one year. Three Ulster under 21 titles in the bag and the bitter disappointment of allireland semi final defeats and Sigerson cup final as well as division 3 final losses would be enough for anyone. Break will do him good. We soldiered well last year without Gearoid and hopefully we'll do the same this year.

Well done to team management for playing this very low-key. The last thing needed here was hand wringing and pleading for one player to stay on. The panel palyers can take confidence from this in that nobody is deemed irreplaceable. Remember, the upturn in Cavan's fortunes have come from TH's willingness to let big egos walk away for the good of the collective.

No effort was made for if you read Mr Hyland's reply which I feel left the young lad with only one option. What was his reply if he had a hamstring we would have had to do without him but he has no hamstring and a pathetic reply and all it tells me he did not give a rats ass if he stayed or went.
Good luck to him and I hope he enjoys his stay over there and goes again next year what is the word I am looking for RESPECT Players break their B***S all year and get a reply like that come on give the players some credit after all they are trying to entertain us Cavan supporters who are hungry for success.

No mask I say it as I see it alway's have and alway's will.
It could have been phased differently don't you think.
Reminds me of the stupid outburst by another person a few years ago if they go they will never wear the Cavan jersey again well we all know what happened there don't we.
Come on how difficult is it to be diplomatic ???????

What exactly is your problem with the reply Swan and where did was he said the managment didn't care. Once again you totally miss the point

The statement was obviously for the rest of the panel. He wanted to express the opinion the panel could survive without Clarke as opposed to begging him to stay in public and when he didn't player moral would drop. Its basic mind games but instead of thinking u let the mask slip and had a long overdue rant at "Mr Hyland".

Few typo errors above, The management and players wanted the player to stay and he intended to go before now. You should let go of whatever grudge you have with TH.

Has anyone information on the state of injuries please?
I am hearing Rory Dunne, Cian Mackey, Geroid, Flanagan will all be missing for the Armagh match.
I hope that's not true but there's very little news coming out.

Both Cian and Geraoid had a good work out last night played plenty football and flying on all cylinders. Rory will be fine. I did not see young Flannigan getting any treatment so I assume he was on the pitch. Happy camp by the looks of things. I hope this helps you.
