Cavan's weak points were shown up badly yesterday!! inside forward line and the changes being made along the side line lost the game last night. Very disappointing I thought the management would of learned from their mistakes against monaghan in the championship last year. Killian Clarke coming on at midfield with argue and givney sitting on the bench could anyone explain that one? SocksUp (Cavan) - Posts: 1 - 27/04/2014 10:39:54 1580574 Link 0 |

Mackey worked very hard and was one of Cavans better players along with Martin Reilly and McDermott. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2763 - 27/04/2014 11:07:21 1580587 Link 0 |

Sean, you are dead right. Once promotion was acheived at the end of match day 5 the priority was Armagh in June. I suspect and hope that is why Jack Brady got a run last night given his lack of game time so far this year. kildare blue (Cavan) - Posts: 578 - 27/04/2014 12:08:18 1580603 Link 0 |
Cavan seems to be doing the same things over and over again expecting different results, its not that were short of talented footballers in the county, to have 2 of the best midfielders in Ulster not even starting the game, bring on one of the best defenders we have and putting him in midfield when our defences was getting roasted, In my opinion i dont think Alan Clarke ,Fergal Flanagan,Jack Brady,Martin Dunne,D o Reilly is playing good enough to be on the team at the minute, this chopping and changing of the team doesnt work either, best players needs to start.quicker changes and correct changes during a match has to be made, if a player is playing bad he has to be swapped out straight away , not with a minute to go,, Maybe its time for a change in management, in fairness they done great work to get us to this level,, but im not sure if they have what it takes to bring Cavan football the next step up. goonie (Cavan) - Posts: 308 - 27/04/2014 12:33:50 1580614 Link 0 |

Just come to terms Cavan fans, ye aren't able to live with the heavyweight powers of the GAA world. Ye might be able to bat the likes of Offaly and Longford in the league and Antrim and Fermanagh in the Ulser but when you play the likes of the Rossies in the league or Donegal or Tyrone in Ulster ye have no chance. I thought there should have been a black card brandished to the Roscommon player for the hit on Givney. Made no attempt to play the ball, and it was late and therefore should have warranted a black card. Penalty incident I thought he got that one right, with the yellow. Overall the ref had a good game, and did not cost Cavan the game unlike last Saturday in Portlaoise. lifebuoy (Cavan) - Posts: 628 - 27/04/2014 13:55:42 1580651 Link 0 |
looking at the Monaghan and Donegal game, it looks like we are well off the pace. Specially with management who leaves the 3 inside forwards on for most of the game when they aren't at the races..then brings on Lyng who didn't even touch the ball or look as though he wanted to touch it. Argue, Tierney and Givney should have been on much earlier. And who thought it'd be a good idea to play Killian Brady midfield..Thought martin reilly had a fine game though wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1689 - 27/04/2014 14:30:53 1580664 Link 0 |
We are nowhere near the standard of Monaghan judging by today's match. We are doing far too much passing backwards and nobody willing to take scores. We need to react much faster on the line and make the changes when necessary. We never looked like we had the confidence to win last night. marita (None) - Posts: 467 - 27/04/2014 15:02:58 1580688 Link 0 |
We were brought right back down to earth with that performance. We have a lot to learn and a long way to go before we start talking about Ulster titles. Felt we lost that game on the line, management were too slow to make changes which cost us. Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 27/04/2014 16:17:10 1580718 Link 0 |

Givney is not one of the best midfielders in Ulster. RHF (Cavan) - Posts: 851 - 27/04/2014 16:48:33 1580743 Link 0 |
What answer? He wasn't playing well so was dropped, get over it. Since Cavan lost he should have started? If we weren't as wasteful in th forwards it wouldn't be an issue FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2763 - 27/04/2014 16:57:46 1580750 Link 0 |
I think Cavan fans should take a look at the division 1 final. desagov (Cavan) - Posts: 208 - 27/04/2014 17:14:17 1580764 Link 0 |
This is not having a go at the management or the players, as only a fool would not see that Cavan are in our best position since the Martin McHugh days, all I want to point out is with a few changes we could take the next step up. eduardo66 (Cavan) - Posts: 64 - 27/04/2014 17:33:54 1580776 Link 0 |

All our faults in the league campaign were on show last night. Luckily we didn't get a last-minute goal to win it or we might think that all was well. This was a reality check. Poor shot selection, poor passing, lazy tackles, some showboating and very slow to make changes that were crying out to be made. Roscommon not much better. Monaghan showed the way today with sensible no nonsense football. Long way to go. RoyalBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 198 - 27/04/2014 17:54:36 1580807 Link 0 |
