Like all teams, we will play to our strengths. He mightn't be fit but we need another scoring forward and I'd like to see Jack Brady in at corner forward at some stage. If Tierney starts, I feel he needs to hang in around the goals. No point dragging him out. Not sure that will work as we operate a two man full forward line with Dunne living off whatever Keating wins.

Dunne needs to lift his game though. In the tougher games last year against better opposition (Monaghan and Kerry), he was found wanting.

Dunne is a class foreward but Cavan hold the ball up too much out the field and therfore dont play to his strengths which is quick ball in.... If u remember he and Keating were both taken off last year v Kerry totally frustrated with the lack of decent ball... If these lads get quick ball in they are a match for any defence but I fear the way this Cavan team are set up they will remain as frustrated as we are having to watch them.... Cavan have got promoted so for Gods sake go out try and play football on Saturday night...

I think you are been very unfair to Dunne. Due to the way we play the game we are slow to get the ball into the forward line. The games you say he was found wanting he was double marked and was getting poor ball in. You could claim that Cavan were found wanting. He finished second highest scorer in the championship last year which shows he knows how to score.

He was marked one v one against Derry and never got a sniff of the ball. Nice footballer but found it very hard against the better teams. He doesn't have the most pace, relies on intelligent runs(which he does very well) but the best CBs can handle this quite easily

Niall McDermott and Jack Brady showed when they came on against Kerry what Dunne lacks. Dunne won't win ball. He needs clean ball low and in front of him. The better teams like Monaghan and Kerry didn't allow us that. Dunne, like his Gaels predecessor before him, is a great man for racking up high scores against poor opposition but he needs to lift himself a level for better opposition. As for being second top scorer, that's a stat. Brian Farrell was top scorer a few years back from Meath. Ask any Meath supporter about him. Dunne racked up high scores against poor teams and struggled when we needed him most. That needs to change.

Breffniguide - Leave your club prejudices at the gate when you come in here. Dunne was very good last year for his first ever run at senior championship. Have a bit of respect for our players. I'm not a fan of the Gaels but I give Martin credit and its very unfair to compare him to that other lad.

Don't compare Dunne and Keating,Keating has power, accuracy and menace and instills fear in to the opposition.Dunnie is a very accurate corner forward but is easily pushed to one side when a decent championship corner back is fit and up for it.This assertion is based on Derry,Monaghan and Kerry games last year.Dunnie still has a good ability to score which is a rare thing in Cavan. As for Seanie despite what was said he was head and shoulders above almost all other Cavan forwards for a long time on a poor Cavan team like him or not. There is no doubt our full forward area needs help so this may be in the form of Givney with Ml Argue coming to midfield. The midfield role has changed dramatically in Gaelic football with no requirement for big men who cannot run and run.All you need in the middle is a big athlethic player who can break ball and run all day.

No Givney? Whats the story there? At least Jack Brady is in the corner, might add some firepower.

No harm giving Clark and Argue a rest, they will prove vital further down the line this Summer with huge roles to play.

I think Mngt are sticking by and large to the Lge team all year. My own preferance would have been to start Givney at full forward but I can see that there is loads of competition for places.Jack Brady will improve the scoring ratio so that will help.
Michael Lyng, Jason McLoughlin, Turlough Mooney, Philip Tinnelly and the 2 or 3 u21's to come back as well. What a change from 4 or 5 years ago. Fellas have to figfht for their places now. Best of luck on Sat lads!!!
Cavan Abu.

Glad to see jack back in, thought lyng might sneak in on d 40 but handy to have in reserve. Lots off options on the bench with d u21s back

Cop yourself on. No club prejudice. Johnston and Dunne are very similar in my opinion and I'm not the very person to say it. I do have respect for our players but Dunne should know himself the teams he failed to produce against. He needs to lift his game to be a top forward. He's 24/25 now so is round long enough to know that.

Is that the definite team? It's not on the Official site or Twitter.

Very strong Cavan side named goes to show how serious they are taking this final. A clash of styles hopefully its a decent game this time.

The team listed above is what wee Club Breifni members were sent by the PRO.

If what the Roscommon manager say's is true it looks like it will be a walk in the park for Cavan.
