Congrats to Peter, Ronan and the lads. Fantastic win. That looks like a serious Cavan team.

Well done lads. Sounded like a convincing performance. That's a good solid half back line we have, but we have plenty of ability all over the field, racked up a good score too. The 4 in a row is well and truly under way. Now for Tyrone next week in Breffni, looking forward to it, should be a good battle and home advantage to swing it for us.

Good to get off to a good start last night. Very convincing performance with nice balance throughout the team. Looks like a strong panel as well. Tyrone will be a stiffer test. They will want to make an impact at this grade having watched us dominate it for so long.

Hope the young Derry lad makes a quick and full recovery.

Fantastic result last night. Well done lads and the Mngt team as well. Couldent make it but seems like there was big Cavan support.
It really is the Golden generation of underage football in Cavan. I make it that this is the 5th year and so far we have lost just one U21 game (Ulster final to Donegal) in that period. What a brilliant achievement for all concerned (coaches and players).

Looking at the team it seems a very strong outfit.
Killian Clarke at full back fronted by a half back line of Gerry Smith,Conor Moynagh and Dara McVeety - very strong line. And Ciaran Brady probably played around there as well !!
Midfield is last years pairing of Mick Argue and Brian Sankey. And remember Liam Buchanan cant get in there! Brilliant
Forwards like Joe Dillon, Kevin Bouchier, Paul Graham, Enda Flanagan and Conor Madden. And I am leaving out some great ones as well.
So looking forward to Tyrone next week. I dont think we will fear them as we have got the knack of beating them now. Most teams fear Cavan now.
Congrats again lads and proud to be a Cavan man this morning!!

Made the trip to Derry last night well worth the trouble, great game to watch and some fine individual performances, Joe Dillon,Paul Graham, Gerry Reilly, Michael Argue were particularly impressive and were the winning of the game for Cavan. Looking forward to Tyrone game will be a tougher test but on last nights display I would be quietly confident.

Made the long trek last yester evening to cheer on the boys in blue. Nice compact venue with the crowd close to the pitch & I'm sure our lads could tell that we well outnumbered the home fans. Pitch & the weather was perfect for a game & you'd love to be out there yourself. The chips were lovely beforehand. Now onto the game. Goalie did very well, kick outs good, quick ones when needed to be, and picked out a half back with a great long kick out which yielded a goal at the other end. Full back line did well, Faulkner marshalled their main threat Bell for most of the half, then when he started to get frustrated with the lack of ball he drifted out the field. Clarke was his usual reliable self, did nothing wrong. Half back line was very strong. Moynagh probably MOTM, was everywhere, played a free role I think with Ciaran Brady dropping back as a wing back. Moynagh a serious engine in him (must be a bluemotion). McVitty was quiet I thought, but not to worry, plenty of games for him to bounce back. Everybody can't have brilliant games. Sankey did a lot of the donkey work in the middle. Argue kicked 4 lovely points from play(surprised me each time) before he went off with a bit of cramp.
Forwards worked well at times, was a period of sloppy passing in the first half, where it was like tennis, kicked it in straight to their sweeper, got it back, then lost it again. Need to be more efficient against Tyrone. Madden & Flanagan were quiet. Dillon showed very well for passes, hit a few wides, got a goal out of nothing though & cleverly pulled his man down for the second goal when the ball was loose. Graham kicked some nice scores finishing with 1-3 to his name. Strong team. Tyrone not to be feared now in the next round. Were at home, bring a massive support & cheer them on. Ref was a little poor at times, he reffed the McKenna Cup final, lets a lot of tackles go sometimes. Derry didn't look brilliant, kicked good long range points, never really threatened for a goal. Hope their corner back is ok, took a bad knock after a few minutes.

Tyrone won the Shamrock Cup recently, beat Antrim by 5pts in the final http://strabanechronicle.com/2014/02/tyrone-win-fourth-shamrock-cup/
Great to have them in Breffni

As far as I remember the following lads started the 2011 Ulster minor final:
Killian Clarke
Gerry Smith
Conor Moynagh
Dara McVeety
Ciaran Brady
Brian Sankey
Mick Argue
Joe Dillon
Paul Graham
Kevin Bouchier

Liam Buchannan , Andy Graham , Nevin O'Donnell were all in the subs last night.

Yeah that's most of them. I think James Farrelly, Jonathan McCabe, and Vincent Coyle were subs as well in 2011.
Great to see so many of the lads still there 3 years later. Well done lads, great confident performance.

Darren McCurry would be the key player in attack for Tyrone, has been in good form this year for Tyrone seniors. Didn't play in the Shamrock Cup final, would have played against Cavan in 2012 final

Yes, McCurry will be the main threat I'd imagine, he is in good form for the senior this year. I think Killian Clarke will pick him up, that should be a battle worth watching.

How did McCurrey do in the MacKenna Cup final?

You shouldn't be getting to carried away with the defeat of Derry, we put no effort into it this year, with only a handful of challenge games plus about 5 automatics either injured or wouldn't play due to the approach taken to the compo by the CB.The only positive you can take from the game is no injuries and a decent game to prepare you for the Tyrone game.

well done Cavan, another great win,all the best next week against Tyrone, this u21 team like all the rest seem to have it, and will be hard stopped, ok not much between teams in Ulster, nearly at any level nowadays, Cavan stand out above all the rest,ok Tyrone will be a step up, but in recent years ,Cavan have beaten them in minor, u21,even mckenna cup final they had them run ragged in the first half, and only for some mistakes who knows what might have happened.
