Cork boss Pat Ryan remains hopeful that his side can qualify for the All-Ireland series, despite suffering a second successive Munster SHC loss at the hands of Clare.

Ryan felt the performance was much improved on the opening round defeat to Waterford as the Rebels now switch their focus to a must-win game against All-Ireland champions Limerick in a fortnight’s time.

“That was an abysmal performance below in Waterford whereas today was a much better performance. But at the end of the day, we are only interested in winning. That didn't happen," he told reporters.

“They were more efficient with their goal opportunities. If you look at the game as a whole, we had more opportunities, but didn't take them.

“We have Limerick coming in two weeks’ time. What are we going to do, fall down on our sword?” he asked.
