BBC Sport NI has won 'Best Sport Programme' at the Royal Television Society awards for its coverage of last year’s All-Ireland SFC final.

The production beat off competition from Sky Sports’ coverage of the Ashes and ITV Sport's Rugby World Cup to win the prestigious accolade. GAA-loving celebrities Paul Mescall, Patrick Kielty, Dara Ó Briain and Adrian Dunbar all gave their take on the Dublin v Kerry decider which attracted a peak viewing figure of almost one million.

Sarah Mulkerrins presented the live broadcast which was produced by Margaret O'Hare.

"I've worked here in the UK for 12 or 13 years and I never thought I'd be able to work on this sport, a sport that I grew up on," Galway native Mulkerrins said.

"It's really special and the sport, football, hurling and the GAA, holds a very special place in people's hearts, so it is lovely to have been able to work on it and bring it to wider audiences."
