The addition of Aidan Walsh and Alan Cadogan to the Cork senior football squad has received the thumbs up from Colm O'Neill.

The Rebel sharpshooter believes manager Peadar Healy's decision to draft in the hurlers is a 'positive' as they prepare to take on Donegal at Croke Park on Saturday.

"Peadar and his management team said from the start it was never a closed panel - there was never a panel picked, or this is the panel we're going with all year," O'Neill revealed to The Irish Daily Star.

"It was open for lads to come and go.

"It can only be a positive to have the likes of Alan and Aidan in, the experience they bring alone, of being involved in intercounty.

"They'll be driving fellas on in training as well.

"They'll be looking along with a lot of the rest of us to try and see where they can put their hand up.

"The only way is in training.

"It's very exciting for all players and management to have that option and competitiveness in training.

"The mood is good. Confidence is good."
