Former Cork defender Noel O’Leary says the Rebels must firmly focus on the challenge at hand against Limerick this weekend and not look past it.

John Cleary’s men are 1/50 favourites to see off the Shannonsiders at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday (2pm) and book their place into the semi-finals of the Munster senior football championship against Kerry on April 20th.

Speaking to EchoLive.ie this week, 2010 All-Ireland winner O’Leary feels that the Leesiders will “have to be careful regarding their focus” going into the clash with the Treaty men this weekend.

“Cork have momentum, but you can’t have a false sense of security around that either. That’s why I am saying I genuinely feel that the full focus needs to be on this Limerick match,” he said.

“They are playing well, but there is still a bit of tweaking required and tidying up to do. Looking at the last league match against Armagh, they would have been disappointed with the two goals they conceded and they missed scores then at the other end of the pitch.

“There is room for improvement, but they have definitely upped the gears. But, one swallow doesn’t make a summer. They have to be careful regarding their focus ahead of the weekend.”
