Nemo Rangers veteran Paul Kerrigan has revealed it took him two years to get over his club’s Munster final loss to Clonmel Commercials in 2015.

The Tipperary side stunned the Cork giants with a late, late goal from Michael Quinlivan to tear up the script in Mallow and take home the O’Connor Cup for the first time.

Speaking to RTE Sport, Kerrigan says the “devastating” loss has since been parked, having defeated Dr Crokes on the same stage two years later, as they look to add a 17th provincial title to their collection this Sunday.

"I was captain on the day. It was devastating," he recalled. "You're half-thinking, 'I’m going to be lifting the cup here’. Literally last kick of the game, you didn’t even have a chance to draw. It was blown up. High ball in, good swivel, shot into the bottom corner, far post.

"It probably took me two years to get over that. But then you’re thinking, if they beat us by a point or ten points, it still goes down in the record books that they won. So you just have to park it.

"Beating Crokes two years ago helped this group get over that, and now we can try and move on and hopefully win another Munster."
