"Ger is a gas man" - Cody

Brian Cody isn't taking Ger Loughnane's criticism of the Kilkenny hurling team to heart.

The Clare man famously contended last month that "there is no way this Kilkenny team should be going for three-in-a-row" but record-breaking manager Cody takes those comments with a pinch of salt:

"Ger is a gas man. Ger throws out these things every so often. To be honest I don't even read these things. I've known Ger for a long time and he will always throw out things that are controversial.

"I think he said we are a functional team. That's not a bad thing to be. I'd prefer to be functional than dysfunctional," the James Stephens clubman told independent.ie.

"To be honest it hasn't even been mentioned. I haven't heard one word about it in the dressing room or around the team.

"It's irrelevant. You don't have to compare anybody to anybody. The All-Ireland is up for grabs every year, that is the way it always has been."
