2017 finalists Sixmilebridge and Clooney-Quin both made their exit from the Clare SHC at the last eight stage yesterday.

Reigning champions Sixmilebridge were dethroned by neighbours Cratloe with former Clare minor Rian Considine netting the game's only goal in the 37th minute. Billy Connors (0-7) and Padraic Collins (0-3) stood out for the winners in a 1-19 to 0-16 victory.

Clooney-Quin, who made the Canon Hamilton Cup decider for the first time in 73 years last season, finished on the wrong side of a 0-17 to 0-14 scoreline against O’Callaghan’s Mills in the first part of a Cusack Park double-header.

2013 All-Ireland winning captain Patrick Donnellan and the Cooney brothers, Ciaran and Gary, were to the fore for the Mills while Peter Duggan sent over eight points for Clooney-Quin.

Doora-Barefield have been relegated to the intermediate ranks for 2019 after losing to Whitegate (1-10 to 0-10) in the SHC relegation final yesterday.

The two remaining Clare SHC quarter-finals of Éire Og v Kilmaley and Ballyea v Inagh-Kilnamona take place this afternoon.
