How would the following be for a new structure for League and championship tenyearplan (Cavan) - Posts: 147 - 05/11/2014 20:03:09 1669980 Link 0 |
That will not work untill the county board put club football first Tempot (Cavan) - Posts: 31 - 05/11/2014 20:50:11 1669990 Link 0 |
For example I was talking to a templeport man and he told me that they had 3 players that weren't allowed play with club in breffnie league even they did not make match panel that is not helping small clubs in cavan Tempot (Cavan) - Posts: 31 - 05/11/2014 21:12:55 1669999 Link 0 |
That looks very good. but county players will have to be let play with their clubs. mick211 (Cavan) - Posts: 8 - 27/11/2014 08:46:17 1675125 Link 0 |
The National League should be 4 divisions of 6 and a division 5 consisting of 8 teams. Each team in div 1-4 would play 5 games and a final between winners of div 1-2. Winners of div 3 and 4 compete with 1/2 of div 5 . That National league could be run off in less than 2 months easily. February and March. County players could be allowed play club football in April while training with county team . May a spare month for club games without county players. Ulster championship and all ireland series should be run off June July August .. Club games again as County teams go out of championship. The biggest problem is the national league drags out too long. dirtybag (Cavan) - Posts: 242 - 27/11/2014 10:16:36 1675135 Link 0 |
The structure for the Senior Championship above isn't much different to what is already in place, 17 teams for the past 2 years, reducing it to 16 is not enough, maybe 12 at best. with 14 teams in Intermediate Championship and 14 teams in Junior Championship. Run the senior championship on a knockout basis . Home and away with neutral playoff needed if 1 each after home and away leg. Only semi final and finals in breffni park. Get the feel of championship football by playing at club grounds. Each team gaurenteed at least 2 games. That's enough. No back door just local championship football with a bit of bite in it dirtybag (Cavan) - Posts: 242 - 27/11/2014 12:46:24 1675181 Link 0 |
Would agree with that, a lot of games in Breffni park have dead atmopheres and there is no need to have practically all Club Championshop games there, maybe from Quarter finals on. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2763 - 27/11/2014 13:06:16 1675183 Link 0 |

Yea the transition could be tricky but as far as i know Cootehill ( Intermediate winners ) have just been promoted so that could solve our problem there - not sure about Arva ( Junior winners ) tenyearplan (Cavan) - Posts: 147 - 27/11/2014 21:42:42 1675272 Link 0 |
Arva were promoted too and will only get better with a young team. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2763 - 28/11/2014 09:18:31 1675279 Link 0 |
