Thank you for that my post was directed at those that are turning a simple topic into other issues that don't relate to this topic at all.

I agree Stirringit , people would want to cop on a bit more with what they're posting . But I'm sure the lads involved in the squad would know this is the nature of the beast . A thick skin is needed to succeed and I'd hope they'd have a water off a duck's back attitude . Doesn't make it right though .

StirringIt
In all honesty, who the hell would have anything to do with any county team when you see the rubbish being discussed on these forums.
What started as a discussion on free taking has turned into a slagging match with fellas being discussed about their performance and questions being raised on their performances by people who, many of them I'm sure have never or are not playing at a decent standard.
All the best referees are on the side line and it looks like all the experts are on this website forums.
These people give up their time, put their lives on hold to represent our county and clubs and provide entertainment.
They and their management deserve praise and thanks, not redicule. Any player who takes to the field at either club or county level deserves respect.
If I was at a standard where I was eligible to play county I'd seriously consider if the abuse was worth it.
Cop yer seleves on lads.

You cop yourself on. These are county footballers. They are putting themselves forward for their performances to be scrutinised. If anything, they should read our comments and go out to prove us wrong. Have you ever seen the documentary about Galway where John Maughan read extracts of pundits views to motivate them in their All Ireland winning season? Martin McHugh savaged most of the Cavan team on BBC last year during the Kerry game. Are you going to say the same to him?

im not from cavan so i can't comment on most of what has been discussed here..i can say that i believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion and its only natural for anyone that is passionate about there club or county to be critical...BUT... i do agree with breffni when he says "These people give up their time, put their lives on hold to represent our county and clubs and provide entertainment. They and their management deserve praise and thanks, not ridicule. Any player who takes to the field at either club or county level deserves respect"...

this is one of the many reasons that the Cic Saor Championships was invented....for the first time it provides the player with a financial reward based on their performance and skill..while at the same time fundraising for a STRUGGLING GAA CLUB ..

the easiest way to find out "who is the best free taker" is to get them to enter this years event!!
I think €5000.00 would help them to deal with any criticism....

TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THE EVENT SO FAR...

We are delighted to announce that "Paddy Power" has agreed to Co sponsor this year's Corona Cic Saor Championships!
This competition is only 3 years in existence, to now have not one but TWO of the most notable brands in the world sponsoring our event is truly amazing and greatly appreciated by both the event organiser and the charities that will ultimately benefit from their involvement…

Seems to have fallen way off the topic here,FREE TAKING. Mc Kiernan probably the best around in the county for a competition like this as frees can be from anywhere not just about distance,Martin Reilly good off the floor but outside 45 lacks the distance as does McDermott. In relation to the other sh** being discussed, reckon Givney is our best midfielder as a fielder but mc Kiernan if givin a fair crack and time to settle would definitely hold his own against the best. Not yet convinced about argue, time will tell!!

Err NO. the thread was started by the organiser of the Cic Saoir competition. the subject matter was just to get your attention. it was intended as a promotional tool.nothing to do with a discussion about who the best free-taker on the county panel is.. Keep Up !.

I see mc kiernan is 33/1 in the competition. I'll be sticking 10 big ones on him to take the prize. Kicks frees over for fun that lad.
