Michael FAY (Coragh Lower, Killeshandra, Cavan)

There was sadness in the club and community last week with the passing of Michael (Mick) Fay. Mick was very highly regarding within our club and the county for the endless work he did for the GAA.

Mick played for the Leaguers from when the club reformed in the 1960s until the mid 70s. After his playing days he managed teams from underage through to Senior which he took over in 1982 and guided the club from Division 3 to Division 1 winning a Junior and Intermediate Championship in a three year span from 1983 to 1986. Mick continued to manage in the club up until 1990 and took a break until he returned in 1997 to guide the club to a League title. Mick retired from management in the mid 2000s but was always a proud leaguer and no more so when the club won the Intermediate Championship in 2013. The large attendance of former players, executive and club members at his funeral bore ample testimony of the esteem with which Mick was held in the club. To his wife Imelda, his sons Brian, Gabriel and daughters Michelle & Catherine, sister Mary, Brother Brian and the extended family the club wish to extend its sincere sympathy.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
