Golf Classic

Our golf classic is on the 3rd of June at Cavan golf club with main sponsor The Imperial Bar and Nite Club. A team of 4 will cost €120. This is our main fundraiser of the year and all help is very much appreciated. If anyone would like to sponsor a tee box or for more information please contact Michael at 0872421704.

 

Camogie

Our senior camogs played Castletara on the 3g on Friday night last and came away with convincing win. Full time score Laragh 4-07 Castletara 0-02. We now play Lacken at home on Monday the 2nd of May. 

Senior and Minor training continues on Wednesday at 7.30pm and Friday at 8.45pm.

Underage Camogie Indoor Training continues on Mondays @ 3:15pm for U13 and Friday evenings @ 6pm for U9's & U11's.

Our club was the proud host of the Minor B All-Ireland  Camogie final on Saturday last between Roscommon and Down. It was a very entertaining game with both sides showing the great skills of our game. Down 1-06 Roscommon 0-06. Both counties were very impressed with our club grounds and facilities so a big thank you to our grounds committee.

 

Senior football.

Our junior team played Ballinagh on Saturday evening last in Stradone and came away with their second win of the league. Laragh 1-16 Ballinagh 2-11. They now play Killinkere away on Sunday next at 2pm. The seniors had no game last weekend. They will play Redhills in Stradone at 7.30pm on Friday in round 5 of the ACFL.

 

Membership

Membership will be closing shortly so please get it paid this weekend to Aiden Brady, P.J.Cahill or Louise Reilly. Adult €20, Juvenile €10 or €60 for family. We would ask people to take up membership as there are great benefits to being a member-tickets, insurance etc as well as helping to fund our club.

 

Strictly

All at Laragh United would like to wish our secretary Michael Walsh the very best of luck when he takes to the stage in the Slieve Russell hotel on Friday night as part of Dromard GAAs fundraising Strictly Come Dancing.

 

U16s

Our u16s played Kingscourt in Stradone on Tuesday last and had a good win. Laragh 5-12 Kingscourt 4-06. They play Killygarry on Tuesday the 26th.

 

U14s

Our u14s travelled to Mullahoran last Thursday and unfortunately were beaten by a good Mullahoran team. Full time score Mullahoran 3-09 Laragh 2-09. They will now play Castlerahan in Stradone at 7.30pm on the 5th of May.

 

Parade

Well done to the U14s and U12s along with their mentors who represented our club as part of the parade to commemorate 1916 in Cavan town on Saturday last.

 

Croke Park

Hard luck to our county team who were beaten by Tyrone on Sunday last. Cavan gave a good account of themselves and Terry Hyland and his team will know what to work on now to prepare for the 29th of May. Dublin and Kerry also provided a entraining game before the Gaa gave us a super show.

U8s/10s

Well done to our u-8 and u-10 teams and managements on there first games of the season against crosserlough on Saturday last. Also thanks to Crosserlough  for their hospitality.

 

Youth to Work Y2W

The GAA wants to help drive awareness of emerging job opportunities in tech and related sectors in the greater Cavan region. Y2W are hosting a Tech Careers Expo - an informative and enjoyable event which will offer advice and hands-on support in securing employment locally. Y2W Tech Careers Expo events will take place at 7.00PM in the Slieve Russell Hotel (2nd May).
