Minor League
Ballinagh began their Minor Division 2 league campaign in Stradone on Saturday last. In what was a closely fought encounter the Laragh men edged out the hard working Ballinagh side by the narrowest of margins on a score line of 1-10 to 2-6. Ballinagh had the wind at their backs in the first half and started the game strongly racing into a 3 point lead before Laragh struck a well worked goal in the 10th minute. Ballinagh duly responded with a goal of their own from Craig Donegan and added another rather fortuitous  goal from a long ball from mid field. The wet and windy conditions did not help the flow of the game as it became difficult for players from both sides with their ball handling and their footing, Laragh finished the 1st half stronger and pulled the margin back to trail by a goal at half time 2-4 to 1-4. Now facing into the wind in the 2nd half Ballinagh fought hard and responded to Laraghs 3 quick points with 2 points of their own, however these proved to be the last scores from the Nagh men as the last quarter of the game turned into a scrappy affair as the pitch and weather conditions worsened. Laragh were able to draw level with a few minutes remaining and struck the winning point just 3 minutes from time and were able to hold on for the victory. Much credit must go to both sides as neither team let up despite battling against the adverse weather. The minors will now play again on the weekend of the 20th, venue to be decided.

The losing ticket drawn this week to be entered into the draw for a weekend away at the end  of the month was Peter Moore. Next week's Jackpot is €6'800. Cavan Teams
The Cavan seniors faced a strong Derry side on Saturday last in Kingspan Breffni Park. Unfortunately the Breffni men fell just short on a score line of 1-12 to 1-11. Commiserations must go to Terry Hylands team as they must feel hard done by not to pick up at least a point from the game. Cavan's next outing will be in 3 weeks against Meath and they will be hoping to rectify the last two defeats, the men seniors are represented by two Nagh men Niall McDermott and Thomas Moore. In better news the Cavan Ladies are showing the men how it is done with another comprehensive victory against neighbours Meath in Ballinlough on Sunday on a score line of 2-11 to 0-05. The ladies mean business this year as they push for promotion after just narrowly missing out last year. They now face Westmeath in Breffni Park at 2pm on Sunday next the 14th. Local woman and ex-Ballinagh underage player Joanne Moore plays corner back for the seniors.
