Terry Coyle Park Development/Friends of Cavan Gaels

Work is well advanced on our new development in Terry Coyle Park. Our new shop and turnstiles are already in operation. Thanks to all those who have already supported our development through becoming Friends of Cavan Gaels. The money from this source along with our Sports' Capital Grant has enabled us to proceed with the building. We urge others who have not joined so far to consider signing up in the knowledge that, by so doing, they will be making a significant contribution, not only to the Terry Coyle Park development, but to the long term development of our young boys and girls.

Our bingo supporters are asked to note that our bingo on Friday next-Good Friday- 3 April will take place in the Town Hall at 9pm. Please note the venue. The collection date is the 29 April. As soon as you have any items please make contact through our facebook page. Please note that bed clothes and bed linen are accepted but not duvets. To see what other items are accepted and not accepted please visit our facebook page. Our aim is to get at least one bag per house. If you have a team for this event or want to help out in any way please contact Joe Johnston or J.J. Reilly. It is hoped that this year many of those who played in our classic in the past will take part this year.

Dalton Cup

Well done to the Cavan Gaels players who are on the St Pats Dalton Cup panel which has reached the final of this competition. Chris Sombete, Ife Makinde, Michael Veale and Evan McIntyre are on the panel. The final will take place in two weeks' time. Maybe this group can bring a third title to the school this year following the achievements of the Corn na nÓg and the Mac Rory panels.

Under16

Hard luck to our under16s who were defeated by a stronger Erne Gaels combination on the 3G pitch on Sunday evening last.

Camogie

Coaching for our under-age camogie players takes place on Sunday mornings in the Sports Complex at 11am. Participants are asked to bring a water bottle, shin guards and €2 for the use of the hall.

Bréifne League

Our seniors met Castlerahan in the Breifne League in Terry Coyle Park on Sunday last. Both sides were short some regulars. This was a game dominated by the strong wind. We had the wind's benefit in the first half and were six points up at half-time. But Castlerahan made an impressive start to the second half and continued to erode our lead. They ended up deserving winners by a four point margin.

Girls' Football

Well done to our u16 girls who defeated Kingscourt in Terry Coyle Park recently.

National League

Well done to Martin Dunne and Niall Murray who played their part in another Cavan victory, this time over Westmeath on Saturday last. Best of luck to the Cavan team and to our players who have another crucial game away to Meath on Sunday next.

Dinner Dance Presentations

Members are asked to note that Cavan Gaels will hold a Dinner Dance with medal presentations, presentations to married couples and to our first championship winning team of 1965. This event will take place in the Hotel Kilmore on 20 June. Please note the date.

Hard luck to the St Pats College team who narrowly failed to reach the Hogan Cup final on Saturday last in Nenagh. Pobalscoil Chorcha Dhuibhne finished strongly in extra time to register a three point win. Particular congratulations to our players Luke Fortune and Shane Fortune who played on the day and to James Veale, Shane Fortune, Fintan Carolan and Keenan Donohoe who were part of the panel.
