The Cavan college raced out of the traps with points from Thomas Smith, Patrick McPhillips and Kyle Tyler, helping them into an early 0-3 to 0-2 lead.

Dungannon responded with a goal soon afterwards to give them an interval advantage, Michael Conroy palmed to the net after Louis Conlon's initial effort had rebounded from the post.

Cavan restored their one-point lead after the break through Shane Cosgrove and captain Gavin Brady (2) and moved further in front when Tyler and substitutes Mark Sexton and Eoin Clarke all found the target.

Dungannon staged a late rally and points from Neil Kilpatrick and Conroy set up a grandstand finish.

However, Cavan super sub Bradley Okapje had the final say when he fired to the net, a soccer style finish, to hand his side their first title in the grade in 42 years.
