'The Year of the Draw' is upon us in the Cavan club championships as two more replays take place this weekend at Kingspan Breffni Park.
Tonight (Friday) sees Cavan Gaels take on Lacken seven days after the 2012 intermediate champions nearly stunned Peter Canavan's charges, whom were denied victory in the dying stages by a spectacular late free from Raymond Galligan which left it at 0-11 each come the final whistle.
The Gaels have been cast as colossal favourites again at 1/5 for this senior championship quarter-final, but you can be sure Gerry Cadden's men will put them to the test again when the ball's thrown-in in Cavan town at 8.15pm.
The second replay of the weekend has Belturbet and Shercock colliding for the third time in as many weeks at the same venue to see which one finally joins Ballyhaise in the semi-finals of the intermediate championship.
Both teams have proved inseparable in their last two outings, with extra-time unable to decide a winner last Saturday night when it finished 2-12 to 0-18 after an enthralling contest, and you wouldn't bet against more extra-time being required here with so much on the line for all involved.
Saturday should also see the year's first county final line-up decided as the junior championship semi-finals between Ballymachugh and Shannon Gaels (5.00pm) and Arva and Cornafean (throw-in 6.30pm) take place before Round Three between Belturbet and Shercock (8.00pm).
