The 11th annual Gallant 15km Challenge : in aid of St Christopher's Hospice Cavan takes place Saturday 25th October 2014. Main sponsor is MacManus Pharmacies Cavan. People can either walk, run or cycle the 15km from Cavan to Cornafean or choose the smaller course of Ballinagh to Cornafean. Over the previous 10 years the Challenge has been an outstanding success raising 289,000 euro for this wonderful cause.

Thunder Rolls Garth Brooks Charity Concert featuring a host of very talented Carrigallen artists takes place in the Breffni Arms Hotel Arvagh on Saturday 13th September in aid of Saint Christopher's Hospice Cavan.  Also performing on the night will be singing sensation Priest Father Ray Kelly who became a worldwide phenomenon reaching over 40 million hits on youtube for singing "HALLELUJAH" at a couples wedding. Dog Show  : The Annual Cornafean Dog Show and Family Fun Day in aid of Self Help  takes place on Sunday August 31st at the Cornafean Sports Ground. Please come along and support this worthy cause.

GAA : Cornafean U12 took on Mountnugent on Sunday evening last in the Final of the U12 league. It was a good performance by all but unfortunately Mountnugent ran out winners by five points on the day. Team : Daniel Brady, Wayne Sheridan, Aaron Smith, James Coyle, Jason McIntyre, Peter Doyle, Emmet Martin, Amy McIntyre, Ronan Traynor. Subs Used :  Oisin Brown for Amy McIntyre.

Best wishes to the Cornafean U16 team who play West Cavan Gales in the Championship Final on Thursday evening at 6.45pm in Kingspan Breffni Park. All support welcome!

Cornafean Senior team take on Templeport on Sunday evening next in Ballyconnell at 6pm in the last of their group games. It's a must win game and good luck to all concerned.

Lotto : There was no winner of this week's lotto jackpot. The number drawn were 4, 5, 9 and 15. The €40 winners were Rita Martin, Bruce; James McEvoy, Lisrea; Pauline Duignan, Drumanbeg; Charlie Sheridan, Drumcrow and Gerladine Duignan, Coronea. Next week jackpot stands at €5000.

Birthday Wishes : Happy Birthday to Mick Hogan who celebrated his 21st in McSeain's last weekend . We wish him many more in the future.

Cornafean GFC Night at the Races : A date for everyone's diary is Saturday night 27th September, where the reds will have their annual fundraising night at the races in McSeains Lounge.  Everyone welcome and all support greatly appreciated.
