Laragh - Cavan junior camogie championship winners.
LARAGH, JUNIOR CAMOGIE CHAMPIONS FOR 2014

Laragh 6-7
Drumgoon 2-3

On Friday evening last in the sunshine in Rathludan Park, Laragh were crowned Junior Camogie Champions.

A very fast paced game in perfect conditions saw Laragh off the mark very quickly with points from Katie Smith and Tina Reilly and a goal from Katie Smith saw Laragh's confidence soar. Sabrina Shalvey & Carmel McBride worked very hard in the Drumgoon defence but Meghan Denning and Michelle O'Rourke both rasped in goals. Jenny O'Rourke at centre half was outstanding with her high catches and Tina Reilly and Debra Smith were dominating midfield. After a scintillating run through Tina added on another point as did Katie Smith. Drumgoon despite this onslaught were feeding in some good ball to their forward line with Margaret McCabe looking dangerous in front of the nets but Laraghs defence of Nicola Collins & Aoife O'Rourke were letting nothing through. Jenny O'Rourke added another goal from a 45. Katie Smith & Meghan Denning added on a goal apiece and the skill and pace of this young team saw them lead 5-5 to 0-1 at half time. Drumgoon's Eileen Brady converted a free for a point. But for excellent goalkeeping from Drumgoon's Caroline Shalvey the lead may have been much more.

Drumgoon started the second half very determined but the Laragh half back line of Jenny O'Rourke, Roisin O'Rourke and Roisin Dolan were on form and making life very difficult for the attack. Caoimhe Clarke for Drumgoon was working very hard and making some good runs through. Sarah McCabe & Eileen Brady scored a goal each and Eileen adding a point to Drumgoon's tally. Siobhan McKenna tipped over another point for Drumgoon. Laragh though finished strong with another goal and a point from Grainne Power and Katie Smith added another point to leave Laragh very much in control in the final quarter of the match.

Jenny O'Rourke Laragh had an outstanding game and was selected player of the match.
Laragh go on to represent Cavan in the Ulster Championship and meet a Derry team in September.
