Going to Portlaoise

April 17, 2014

O'Moore Park, Portlaoise is the venue for Saturday's All-Ireland JFC final.
Going to Portlaoise on Saturday? And using the motorway?

If so it is very important to take the proper exit. Do not, repeat do not take exit 16 unless you want to drive into Portlaoise itself.

Remember the Dubs will also be coming down this motorway and Portlaoise itself can be a right bottleneck.

Instead continue on until exit 17, the Maldron Hotel will be to your right and there leave the motorway. Portlaoise is well sign posted and at this stage you are approx one mile from O Moore Park.

Suggest you travel on right up to the grounds and you will notice , just before O Moore Park, parking on the left. The grounds belong to Portlaoise GAA club and will be manned by officials from the club.

Can fit nearly seven hundred cars and the club run a busy clubhouse with light snacks and toilet facilities available. Can be a little slow getting out but sure once the Dubs are beaten they will be swarming out quicker than you could say Molly Malone.

Those coming from the Tullamore direction do not have to drive through the town but face a 15 to 20 minute walk. Easier exit though

Also recommended are Parkside, a multi-storey parking complex beside O Moore Park and Centre Point, a closed down shopping centre with parking facilities still available.

More importantly enjoy a safe trip and a Cavan win would make it one heck of an Easter
