Cavan County Board Chairman Tom Reilly
Eight members of the Cavan senior football panel were used by their clubs on Sunday - against the County Board's wishes.

Cavan played Louth on Saturday and have a crucial Division Three encounter with Tipperary this coming weekend. Thus, the County Board had asked clubs to use none of the 26 players comprising the senior county panel in Sunday's ACFL fixtures.

However, eight players togged out, including three individuals who started against Louth and two more who came on as subs. It has been reported that one of these players sustained an injury playing for his club.

County chairman Tom Reilly told The Anglo-Celt: "I am saddened that some clubs felt that they had to play these players a week before a very important battle for us.

"Some clubs didn't and I compliment those who didn't, including one club who had four county players."
