Cavan were made to come from behind and earn a 0-11 to 0-11 draw against neighbours Meath at Kingspan Breffni tonight as both teams continued their promotion push in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League.

In the end, it was Sean Brennan’s 69th minute free that ensured the points were shared as both teams saw chances to win it in injury-time fall by the wayside.

The visitors had been the much better side during the opening 35 minutes in Cavan Town and the points of Ronan Jones, goalkeeper Brennan (‘45’), Daithi McGowan and Jack O’Connor helped them to lead by 0-7 to 0-3 at the break.

Ace attacker Paddy Lynch led Cavan’s fight after the change of ends with a brace, while his Crosserlough clubmate James Smith chipped in with a pair of points as well, and come the hour mark the Breffni men would be level through Padraig Faulkner.

Niall Carolan fisted over to give the Blues the lead ahead of Matthew Costello levelling the derby as the rain poured down in the closing stages.

A Lynch free would be erased by Brennan at the end of regulation and, in the dying stages, Ciaran Caulfield and Ciaran Brady would have chances to win it for their respective teams before they finished all square.
