Cornafean U14 girls Feile Competition
Best of luck to the Cornafean U14 girls and management team who are taking part in the National Feile Competitions in Sligo this weekend.  This is a great achievement for the girls and we wish them all the very of luck in the competition.

Feile Bucket Collection
A big thank you to all who helped out on Saturday in Ballinagh with our bucket collection which was a great success.  Thank you to all who donated so generously.

Ulster Final Defeat
Hard luck to the Cavan lads on their Ulster Final defeat to Donegal in Clones on Sunday last.  They unfortunately met a very powerful and well oiled machine in the Donegal team who certainly can have a big say in the destination of Sam Maguire this year.  Cavan brought the crowds, colour and atmosphere to Clones but it was not their day.  Wishing the team the best of luck in the 4th round of the qualifiers.

Reds Win
Well done to the Senior Reds on Friday night who got the season back on track with a much improved performance and victory over visitors, Belturbet.  Best of luck to the team and continued success as they take on Knockbride in Knockbride this Saturday evening at 7.30 p.m. Round 13 of the ACFL.

CLUB NOTES

Cornafean 1-13  Belturbet 0-9
At half time in this encounter one would be forgiven for thinking same old story of recent games but the Reds came out fighting in the second period and played possibly their best football all year to comprehensively defeat the Belturbet men and gain another two very valuable league points.  Belturbet were much faster out of the blocks and for the first 15 minutes of the match Cornafean were chasing shadows.  Eoin McGuigan and Fionnan O'Reilly were dominating round the middle for the Rorys and with forwards of the calibre of B. Fitzpatrick , D. McDonald and S. Lawlor, they were making their mark on the scoreboard.  During this period of Belturbet dominance the Reds defence stood firm not conceding a goal and when they got a foothold in the game points followed from J. Traynor, L. Duignan and B. Doyle.  The Reds would have been happy at the break knowing there was just two points in the match and possibly the Rorys were wondering how they were not further ahead on a  score of 5 pts to 3 pts.  Whatever was said in the Reds dressing room at the break had the desired effect as Cornafean produced a second half of aggressive, fluent and attaching football to score 1-10 to their opponents 0-4 and deservedly win the match.  N. O'Reily did angle over the first score after the break for their visitors but C. Cullen did likewise for the Reds and on 10 minutes when the lively Jack Traynor superbly passed to Barry Doyle on the edge of the square who buried the ball in the back of the net, the Reds now were leading for the first time in the game and never looked likely to relinquish their lead.  Three excellent points followed between the 10th and 15th minutes courtesy of Doyle again.  J. Miney and Gerry Sheridan, B. Fitzpatrick, Rorys and C. Cullen then enchanged  frees.  Belturbet were feeding of scraps now as they were being over run by a rampant Reds but B. Fitzpatrick kept them in touch with placed balls.  The last 10 minutes belonged to Cornfean who scored 5 unanswered points from play, excellent scores from D. Wharton, G. Sheridan, B. Doyle, sub A. McCaffrey and J. Miney giving the Reds a deserved winning 7 pt margin.  Well done to the Reds team and management on a morale boosting victory and hopefully onwards and upwards for the Summer   After a shaky first half the Reds were transformed in the second half with an outstanding team performance.
Cornafean scorers B. Doyle 1-3, S. Sheridan 0-2, J. Mine 0-2, D. Wharton 0-1, C. Cullen 0-2, J. Traynor -1, L. Duignan 0-1, A. McCaffrey 0-1
