Kingscourt Stars club notes

Seniors

And so our season comes to an end with a defeat in the quarter final V Castlerahan last Saturday in Mullagh. Kingscourt 0-07 Castlerahan 0-12. It wasn’t to be our year but we will be back. There was a lot of re building this year, and with young  players being introduced and getting a chance, we can only build on the experience! Thanks to our manager Peter McKeon and selectors Barry McArdle and Fra McPhillips who put in a lot of hard work. A special word of thanks to Danielle Gorman for doing a fine job tweeting the championship games. It’s hard to believe that senior football is all over in mid- September but we are already looking forward to 2019. Keep fit lads – it's a long winter!

Girls

Congratulations to our U12s girls team who managed to secure their first piece of silverware by beating Lacken in the division final of the Cornafean tournament last Friday night. The girls celebrated like they had won an all Ireland - great to see such joy at underage football. We wish these girls and their mentors more success as they move up through the ranks in the coming years.

With a greater interest in ladies football and a growing juvenile club, Kingscourt Stars, for the first time, are able to enter two teams in the U11s girls autumn league. We wish the girls and management every success in the coming weeks.

Development Draw

Recent fundraising draw netted over €9,500. Thanks to all who sold and bought tickets to support our club. Money is used for upkeep of the grounds and vital pitch repair work. Our U7 team was the team that sold the most tickets – almost 20% of sales. Well done to the management and parents involved. Hopefully the prize of €250 will go towards a well deserved treat for our U7s!

Visitors

We hosted Bailieborough V Knockbride in the div 4 U15 final, and Bailieborough V Laragh in the Intermediate Championship quarter finals last Friday. Well done to the winning Knockbride team, and the other game finished in a draw. Thanks to all the committee members who helped out on the night – stewards, traffic management, shop and kitchen duties. All the hard work is greatly appreciated!
