Killeshandra Seniors

Intermediate Championship

Round 4

Killeshandra v Redhills on the 8th of September in Ballyconnell. The game started at 18.02

and in the first minute Killeshandra’s Conor O Reilly went for a goal but was saved by

Redhills goalkeeper Paul Martin but it didn't take long for the leaguers to get the first score

on the board thanks to Conor McGearty getting the point. There was a few near misses at

points from both teams in the opening minutes but wet condition did play its part in this.

Redhills Mark Kelly got a goal in the ninth minute. The Leaguers managed to get their

second point two minutes later thanks to Eoin Brady and this followed by some great team

work from Cein Sweeney fisting the ball across the goal line and Darren O’Hanlon finishing it

getting a goal for Killeshandra. The Leaguers were on a roll and looked confident as they

managed to get another 3 points thanks to Daniel Luby, Shane O Reilly (free) and Thomas

O Reilly (free) this seen the leaguers take a 5 point lead. A free in 23rd minute gave Redhills

their first point of the game thanks to Packie Leddy. Aaron Brady got another point for

Killeshandra in the 25th minute and a great save by Joe Masterson in the 28th minute seen

them keep the lead ahead of Redhills but on the stroke of halftime Redhills received a 45

and their Goalkeeper Paul Martin stepped up to take it and gets a point for Redhills as the

half time whistle blows. Half time score was Killeshandra 1-6(9) Redhills 1-2(5). Second half

started well for Redhills with them getting a goal within the first 5 minute of the game thanks

to Turloc Mooney and another two points with Killian McSherry and Rory Dunne getting

them. Aaron Brady tried for a goal but again was stopped by Redhills keeper Paul Martin.

The leaguers had a few near missed points in the opening minutes but a free in the 12th

minute seen them get their first point of the second half thanks to Aaron Brady to even the

game once again a minute later another free this time Shane O Reilly takes a great point to

send the leaguers into the lead again. It took awhile before either teams scored again and it

was Redhills getting a free and Packie Leddy getting the point to draw the game again but in

the 30th minute Killeshandra Eoin Brady takes a great point to get the point lead again but it

was short lived as Redhills responded straight away with the point from Turloc Mooney, this

even the game again but the leaguers found more and yet again with great team play from

Conor O Reilly running up the field sending the ball to Cein Sweeney who sent it into Darren

O’Hanlon and a great left foot kick from Darren which seen it going into the back of the

Redhills net for a goal. Killeshandra were three points up with 3 minutes into extra time. A

great run from James Dinneny and pass to Darren O’Hanlon who finished it off for the

leaguers with a point. Full time whistle was blown. Full time score Killeshandra 2-10(16)

Redhills 2-06(12).

TEAM: Joe Masterson, Michael O Reilly, Damien Higgins, James Dinneny, Conor O Reilly,

Darragh Tighe, Luke Bevis, Thomas O Reilly(1) Aaron Brady(2) Shane O Reilly(2) Daniel
