Carlow - London trip

Replying To Bimb:  "Thanks lads. Seems that Heathrow is only option but too pricy. Looks like it ll be the radio and 2 min highlights on Sunday game"
one option
get to Manchester for £40 Ryan air
and have enough if you to hire a mini bus to Ruislip
cheapest option early start

As Carlow man living outside the county, I think it's great, the level of positivity around our senior teams this year. Football team is doing as well as it has in years and hurling team also doing well even if at lower level. Not known as much enthusiasm around our teams for years.

As for London, a good bet would be to get a sail and rail ticket from Dublin to Hollyhead or rosslare Pembroke.. They are generally cheap and if it's fast ferry, time travel isn't too bad considering you'd be waiting for couple of hours at airport.

A long shot I know but any chance of Co board organisation using a bus to match?

The county board don't organise buses to away matches in Ireland, never mind London. On that note, a bus to away games would be great as the hardcore fans will always travel to see our hurlers & footballers.

Carpenters ran a bus to Portlaoise, think they are looking at London too.

Just tought it would keep costs down for everyone. I'm sure the logistics of organising your own flights trains etc puts people off going. Not everyone is used to city living.

Is there a reason why the game is now 1pm on Sunday? Completely ruins the social aspect of the trip if you are to fly back for work on Monday

So that the Carlow team can get back at a reasonable hour... the players involved apologise for ruining your drinking session with their inconvenient need to work on Monday morning.

I would have thought a Saturday evening game would have suited travelling supporters too but it is what it is and hopefully we can get a win!

Some players are working late - in Dublin - on Friday. And it's not clever to fly in on day of game.

In the end I flew into Gatwick for 110 return. Got public transport across to Ruislip for 20 return. It took an hour and half. Having looked at the price I flights into Heathrow I think it worked our well. I would reccommend flying into Gatwick provided you have researched what trains/tube to use.
