St.John, Carlow had lost the previous Christ Ring semi final to Westmeath so another defeat in Mayo could have been a hammer blow.Mayo were tipped as a team on the way up at the time.Who knows mabey they would have prospered and we would have went backward had we lost that game.

galways 3rd team?????? are you joking?? they had a lot of their better players playing you obviously were not at the game. first touch not great but battled strongly against a superior team, weather didnt help but lots of hope for the wexford game.

Didn't see the game, but theres no way you could class that team as Galway's third team. At least 8 of them played in the All Ireland last year

Old Burrin is at it again - he quoted wrongly last week that we were playing Antrim's 3rd string!!!! - That was a strong Galway team out today, and as someone said a battling performance.

Lads would ye stop even acknowledging OLD BURRIN as he is just a WUM who knows nothing about Carlow football or hurling. He will eventually go away if ye ignore him. sad little chap.

Good type of game for our lads to get so early in the year and decent crowd too for a change. Not too concerned about the result as Galway had v strong team out and Carlow started with only 6 players who started league final against westmeath last year. Ceatharlach abu!

So Eoin Nolan holds Joe Canning to a point from play and barely fouls him all day yet Canning makes Team of The Week and Nolan is left out? Frustrating to say the least

Good man Old Burrin from Laois. Weird the way we always seem to have to play not just reserve teams...but 3rd teams. Was Antrims 3rd team last week, and now its Galways 3rd team which includes Joe Canning. Say he wasn't too happy being dropped to the 3rd team as were the other 10 who played in leinster final.
Antrims 3rd team had a good win yesterday too v your own county.
