Under 21 football semi finals

(Oldest Posts First)

Well lads back to football competition tomorrow night with 2 tasty u 21 semi finals. Pal v Myshall in DCP and Bagenalstown v Eire Og in Pal. I reckon Pal will just shade it against Myshall and Eire Og to beat Bagenalstown. Any predictions?

Eire Og got the better of Bagenalstown by 0-10 to 0-6 on a stormy night in Pal. Conditions were dreadful. Myshall continued their quest for 3 in a row after seeing off Pal 3-08 to 0-08. Myshall strong favourites in the final.

Amazing to see a hurling club time and again winning in the 21s grade football the last few years. Is it credit to Myshallor indicative of something missing in our so called 'football' clubs?

I am slightly biased here but I would have to say that it's 70 30 in favor of myshall being good rather than teams being poor on that one. Many of the 21s in the last few years have a lot of senior experience whether at intermediate or senior level (albeit mostly unsuccessful in recent times) whereas most other teams have players who are getting a lot of minor experience. A lot of our 21s are now important players on our senior team how many other teams can say that of their 21s?

Im sorry lads..but the 21s championship this year is so poor is unbelievable..if pal had a full team the other night, moran, jayo, neil d and tomas kenny playing, plus 2 or 3 more that were not there, they would have destroyed that miseal team, who were so poor themselves..i havent seen much of eire og but from what i hear they are backboned by a minor team with the likes of murta and darragh o b involved too..a poor championship..

That's probably the point though Carlow star and eager to hurl. Small village area has managed to retain and through necessity has blooded these guys in inter/senior championships. Town teams (or close to town) cant seem to retain the numbers in their clubs. Why??

Did you not have the majority of them players last year carlowstar? This sounds like sour grapes to me. I've read all about the great Pal team for the last few years from you and some other over enthusiastic supporter claiming all sorts of nonsense (not saying this is you) and don't get me wrong here I am not saying we are world beaters. As for the town teams maybe you have a team who are of an age group for that year and you may loose a lot of players but in the countryside more often than not lads have been playing 21 for 5 years when they finally finish just a thought.

CARLOWSTAR IS DEAD RIGHT. WE WAS MISSING A LOAD OF LADS THE OTHER NIGHT. THE HURRICANE TYPE WEATHER DIDNT HELP US ON THE NIGHT AS WE WOULD BE A MUCH MORE TECHNICALLY GIFTED AND SKILLED TEAM THEN THE MOUNTAIN MEN. THEY WERE ABLE TO APPLY THEIR BULLY BOY TACTICS ON A WET AND WINDY NIGHT IN DCP. EIRE OG WILL SORT THEM OUT IN THE FINAL OF THAT I HAVE NO DOUBT.

Wind your neck in Pal4life. Better team won. And anyway, it's a sad day for the county if a good footballing club like Pal are allowing themselves to be bullied.

Surely not even eire og can stop miseal from their 3 in a row. They seem to a lot more experienced with eire og only having 3 or 4 on their last year under twenty one and miseal being here before must not how to win one

I can tell you in our minds (Myshall) Eire Og are favorites and probably rightly so. A better balanced team by all accounts and I look forward to a good game hopefully

Myshall would have to be favourites considering that they are going for 3 in a row. Eire Og are made up of mostly minors and Murta Ware and a couple of last years minors. I see that Paddy Power go 4/9 Myshall and 15/8 Eire Og.
