Carlow v Wicklow

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Hurlers beat Leix in the championship and Offaly Wexford and Leix in the league i recent seasons. I don't think we beat any of that ilk previously, apert from the famous win v Cork in the 60's.

Surprised same team is named after that terrible display last week.
No Benny Kavanagh again, who has been our best back.
Finnegan and Bolger starting again.
Gannon again starting in ff line, which never has been and never will be his best position.

The management team just don't seem to learn anything from previous games.

Hopefully the lads can pull off a surprise win, but have serious doubts especially after seeing that team.

A vote of confidence in the team selection tonight, it suggest that's the best we have, we'll see.

I know why he was dropped but that was last week. He paid for it by not playing, now he should be back in.

my team for this evening with what's available would be

o'reilly
molloy lawler kavanagh
lambe redmond gannon
bren murphy jackson
brian murphy reid foley
smith ledger hayden

and if somebody is not playing well, don't leave it to the 69th min to take them off.

I hear that John Murphy and Mullins have done their cruciates again, terrible news for both if true.

jesus that is shocking if true, how about trying foley at center back with redmond moving out to the wing, the league is over for us now, the teams we selected were not god enough and the positions they were in were wrong we have to try get it sorted for the meath game so we are not hammered by 20 points, any of ye heading down to the game?

Yea Barrowsider that might work too, but I think a half back line of Lambe, redmond and Gannon is solid enough. Cud well swap gannon and foley around but i'd rather have Darragh in fwd line as he is capable of kicking a score or 2.

Sean Gannon is a class player, wins ball, great fielder as he has proven for Eire Og, and is real fast. But he cannot kick scores, twice last week he was clean thru after doing all the hard work and fisted an effort at a point well wide, then kicked the next ball he won well wide again.
Against Clare when game was level a good chance fell to him, on his weak left foot and it never came close to going over.

Its not fair on him, and its madness really to keep playing him in the wrong place. Thats why i'd put him in half backs.

Not heading down there 2nite, u going urself? but will go to Aughrim 2mo to watch the Wicklow/Leitrim game and see our hurlers after.

yeah im down here living so its a handy one for me

i agree on gannon, it's a waste of a fine footballer playing him in there, and no coincidence that we don't score goals with him at full forward id play him wing forward or back with a preference to wing forward as it would allow him to move into midfield and win ball, one of my main problems with the setup of the team is the way we push our half backline up, its ok to do that when you have the ball but for kickouts no, if we don't win the kickout our full back line is left totally exposed, even if our center back held back it might not be as bad but we fire everyone into the middle

Barrowsider - I would bring Daniel st ledger back into the centre back position where he used to play to good effect and put Sean gannon beside him. Bring Derek out to midfield or centre forward and bring Paul Reid in instead of ed finnegan. I have given up trying to figure out Luke Dempsey's team selection there is no point! Not going down myself tonight so look forward to your review after game. I doubt it's on kclr? Perhaps Waterford might be carrying it.
