New Carlow senior hurling manager Colm Bonnar wants all players to make themselves available for the county team.

One of main problems that former manager Pat English had was that a number of players would not commit to the inter-county scene.

However, Bonnar believes the past is the past and it is time to move on and begin a new era for Carlow hurling.

Speaking to the Carlow Nationalist, Bonnar stressed that it will be a 'clean slate' for everyone as he begins the process of assembling a squad.

"You hope the best hurlers come forward and it is all about putting in the best performances and seeing where that takes us. It's about wanting to win and wanting to wear the jersey," stated Bonnar.

"We will be working off a clean slate. Players with initiative and commitment are the players I will be looking for. It is a case of going in there and if they want to wear a jersey they will get a chance."

The two-times All-Ireland SHC winner comes into the role with a lot of managerial experience behind him having being a selector with Waterford and managed Wexford from 2008 to 2011.

He also has had huge success with Waterford IT winning four Fitzgibbon Cup titles.
