Ten-point defeat an injustice, says O'Brien

Turlough O'Brien was at a loss to explain how Carlow ended up losing to Louth by 10 points.

Trailing by just two points with eight minutes remaining, the Barrowsiders were blitzed in the closing stages as the Wee County powered to a 2-24 to 3-11 victory.

"It's hard to understand that one," the Carlow boss is quoted in the Irish Examiner.

"They just got a run on us late on. In fairness, they worked a couple of really good scores. They have some class forwards that would cause anybody trouble.

"It's going to be raw for the next few days because we came into this game after putting a huge effort in. Our preparations went well, we played in some challenge games and we were confident we were going to turn them over. Around 15 minutes into the second half, we were right in the mix. So we're disappointed with how it finished."

O'Brien vowed to keep his panel together for the All-Ireland qualifiers, adding: "These lads will stick together. They've put a massive effort in for the last two years. It was the same story last year, nobody went away."
