Redmond bitterly disappointed

Carlow football Shane Redmond has revealed that the manner of the loss to Laois was one of his worst days in the county jersey.

Laois dished out a 3-16 to 0-08 hammering to the Barrowsiders in their own backyard last weekend to advance to the quarterfinals.

There were high hopes in Carlow that they could at least push their neighbours all the way in this clash, but this never transpired as Laois led by 1-10 to 0-03 at the break.

"That was as bad a day as I have had in a Carlow jersey. I thought the preparation was decent and we were confident going into the match," Redmond told the Carlow Nationalist.

"A home match for us, things have gone reasonably well in training but there was no excuse for that out there. It was pathetic.

"We were outplayed in every position on the field. It was from start to finish. It was a rout, they were flying it and we seemed to get caught up.

"We couldn't seem to work the ball into the forwards. We were hand-passing it around too much and running into blind alleys."
