Carlow are perched proudly on top of the HL Division 2A table this evening following their 1-15 to 1-13 success against Derry in Celtic Park.

Brendan Douban gave the home side the best possible start when goaling in the 4th minute but Pat English's side pulled a goal back just before the break and they trailed by 1-6 to 1-7 at the break.

The Barrowsiders took the lead for the first time in the 43rd minute - 1-10 to 1-9 - and they went on to claim a third win from as many outings.

Next up for Carlow is Kerry who fell to a hefty 0-12 to 3-18 defeat to Westmeath in Austin Stack Park.

The Kingdom's chances were dealt a blow when they were reduced to 14 men after Keith Carmody was sent off for a strike on Derek McNicholas and they were outscored by 2-9 to 0-6 in the second-half.

Brendan Murtagh, Darragh Clinton and Alan Devine raised green flags for the winners.

Elswhere, at the bottom end of the table, London got off the mark with a 3-12 to 2-12 victory over Wicklow in Arklow.
