Carlow manager Anthony Rainbow is confident that Paul Broderick will be fit for this weekend's All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Clare.

Broderick missed the win over Waterford in the last round, having picked up an injury in the heavy defeat to Meath during their Leinster SFC clash.

The Barrowsiders have another home tie and Rainbow stated to the Carlow Nationalist that there is a good mood in the camp of late.

"Training has been going very well over the last ten days," said Rainbow. "The lads are training hard; Paul is coming back from the injury he had after the Meath match. That is a positive sign.

"Paul had been complaining about problems with his hamstring and pelvic area. We had a scan done. He was afraid to over train in case he had a hamstring problem but we have ruled that out. It is a disc issue and the physio is going to manage that over the next few days."
