As it happened: Round Two SF Qualifier Draw

June 30, 2014

We love a Qualifier draw
The second-round SF Qualifier draw took place this morning at 8:30am.

The draw involved the eight first-round Qualifier winners plus the eight beaten provincial semi-finalists. As with the first-round draw, the 16 teams were divided into Round 2A and Round 2B.

Round 2A - games to be played on Saturday, July 5th:
Bowl 1: Round 1A winners Laois, Longford, Wicklow and Limerick.
Bowl 2: beaten provincial semi-finalists Wexford, Antrim, Tipperary and Sligo.

Round 2B - games to be played on Saturday, July 12th:
Bowl 1: Round 1B winners: Tyrone, Down, Cavan and Carlow.
Bowl 2: beaten provincial semi-finalists Kildare, Monaghan / Armagh, Clare and Roscommon.

Teams that had met before could meet again. Where two teams who have already met in the 2014 provincial championship awere drawn to meet, the winner of the earlier game in the championship would have home advantage.

Otherwise, a third bowl was used to determine home advantage. After two teams had been paired together, they were placed together into a third bowl from which the first-drawn team would get to play at a home venue.
