The death occurred at his son's home on Wednesday 14 December of Andrew (Andy) Mahon, St Anne's, Church Road, Bunclody following a short illness, having reached the age of 86 years.

Andy's remains were removed from his home on Thursday evening for requiem Mass on Friday morning, concelebrated by Canon SS de Val; Fr AG Jones PP, Bunclody and Fr Pat Codd, Rathnure, before interment in the family plot in Ryland Cemetery. A guard of honour, drawn from members of Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club accompanied the cortege from Andy's house to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody. He was vice-president of HWH/Bunclody GAA Club to the time of his death and was a regular at Gaelic games throughout Co Wexford and indeed in Croke Park, where he attended the Leinster Football final last year.

Andy shared his life experience with the world when he recorded his life story with interviewer Alan McGuire as part of Wexford Library's Oral History Project. The CD can be borrowed from the local Bunclody branch, or any branch of County Wexford Library service. He always enjoyed socialising and liked nothing better than meeting with relatives and friends to share stories and enjoy a song in Andy Redmond's pub at Main Street and he was able to enjoy this pleasure up to just a few short weeks before his death.
