Dympnas share top spot in League

In the Fens, St Dympnas had a comprehensive win in the League when defeating Cambridge Parnells 3.08 to 1.06, having led by ten points at the interval.
Both sides were under-strength and not too exciting a game but the Luton side won't be quibbling as the annexed two points set them up nicely at the top of the table alongside St Colmcilles.
Cambridge Parnells are two points behind the leading pair and they are away to Colmcilles on Saturday 06 September at Cotlandswick. The other critical League games takes place on the Sunday at Stockwood Park when Dympnas play Luton rivals, St Vincents and at Oxhey Park where home side, Glen Rovers play Éire Óg.
A draw will suffice for the Leagrave side to reach the League final. However, lose and they would be involved in play-offs to decide the League finalists should Parnells defeat Colmcilles and Glen Rovers win at home. It makes for interesting computations.
A more immediate and pressing matter is concentrating minds in Cambridge, Watford and Leagrave as the clubs face daunting SFC semi-final clashes on Sunday 31 August in a double-header at Cotlandswick.
Dympnas face Éire Óg in the first game whilst Glen Rovers take on battle hardened holders, Parnells in the second game. The Watford side won't mind it being said that the holders will start favourites. The opening game is a more intriguing affair and promises to be an exhilarating game from the throw-in at 2pm.
Also, in the Senior Football League, Éire Óg received a walk over from St Vincents. Disappointing but the bigger picture shows only two fixtures this year failing to take place. This is a much improved scenario on other years in the last half decade.
This weekend, being Bank Holiday, there will be no games in Herts as is customary.
