McKaigue goes Down Under for trial

August 19, 2008
Derry minor Christopher McKaigue has made the trip 'Down Under' to take part in a ten-day trial with Australian Rules side Sydney Swans. McKaigue travels to the Swans club just weeks after Tyrone minor star Kyle Coney completed his trial with the club as Australian clubs continue to recruit some of the GAA's top young talents. Other Oak Leaf youngsters such as James Kielt and Neil Forrester have also been invited to attend the AFL recruitment camps along with a host of young GAA stars which take place at the end of the month in Co Mayo. McKaigue recently received his A-Levels with distinctive grades which may provoke the Swans to draft him into a Sydney University if he impresses in the trials in the coming days.
