All-Ireland MFC quarter-final: Kerry crush Faithful

August 10, 2008
Barry John Walsh inspired Kerry to an emphatic victory over Offaly in a one-sided All-Ireland minor football quarter-final at Newbridge. Kerry..4-12 Offaly...0-9 Walsh, a younger brother of senior star Tommy, helped himself to 3-3 as the Kingdom cruised into a last-four clash with Mayo. The beaten Leinster finalists opened the scoring with a first-minute point from Brian Connor, but when Walsh palmed to the net three minutes later, Kerry never looked back and they went on to lead by nine points at the interval. Declan McGovern's Offaly team tried hard in the second half with Anton Sullivan, Ruairi Allen, Robert Knight and Connor all having their moments, but Kerry possessed way too much class and were 15-point winners in the end.
