Carlow determined to get to bottom of farce

Carlow County Board has stated its determination to ascertain just who in the GAA was responsible for initially fixing their upcoming Christy Ring Cup final for tomorrow evening (Friday).
Carlow chairman Pat Deering says the county felt "downgraded and insulted" regarding the timing of the original fixture which has now been fixed for Tullamore on Sunday evening next.
The Barrowsiders have nonetheless requested a meeting with GAA President Nickey Brennan and Director General Pauric Duffy to demand an explanation for the fixture fiasco.
"We felt we were being downgraded and insulted with the Friday fixture," Deering explained. "Being asked to play on the Friday night of a Bank Holiday weekend meant the logistics were far too difficult.
"We have demanded an urgent meeting with the Director General and the President to explain the situation to us, how we have arrived at this situation and why we had to go cap in hand with Westmeath to sort it out among ourselves."
