St Mullins GAA

July 31, 2008
Well done to the Carlow Senior Hurlers who beat Mayo last Saturday and qualified for the Christy Ring Cup Final that is to be played this Sunday at 6pm in Tullamore against Westmeath. Best of luck to the team especially the St Mullins lads involved. We also urge people to travel to Tullamore and support their county. The Footballers played their last game of the league against Tullow and with a much depleted squad went down 3-23 to 0-2.Tullow are a senior side playing in Division 2 and it was a difficult test for St Mullins who were without many regulars due to injury, holidays and county commitments. It is hoped that we will have a full squad for the championship which will resume against Eire Og next weekend should Carlow lose to Westmeath. The minor hurlers drew with Naomh Brid on Monday night in a tight championship encounter. This result leaves St Mullins still in with a chance of reaching the semi finals. The final score was St Mullins 2-12 Naomh Brid 3-9. The seniors played Naomh Brid in the All County Hurling league on Wednesday night and were beaten by a point. The final score was Naomh Brid 0-10 St Mullins 1-6. The scores came from John Walsh 1-0, Richard Deegan 0-3, John Murphy 0-2 and Patrick Walsh 0-1. Fixtures: Minor Hurling Championship v Muinebheag on Monday 4th August at 7.30 in Bahana. There may be more fixtures next weekend depending on the outcome of the Christy Ring Final. The club shop is open every Tuesday night from 7.30 to 8.30 in the meeting room and stocks a wide range of club branded merchandise. The club received no money from the National Lottery in their bid for a grant to develop the new pitch. This is very disappointing as a lot of work was put into the application and is the second year in a row that we have been turned down. Club Meeting on Tuesday 5th August at 9pm.
