Westmeath are bidding to retain the title and to complete a Christy Ring Cup-Division 2 NHL double this season. This will be a repeat of the Division 2 NHL final of last April which Westmeath won by 2-12 to 0-12 in the Gaelic Grounds. Carlow and Westmeath each won three and lost one game en route to the Christy Ring Cup final.
