O'Rourke wants to cut out the complacency
July 22, 2008
Armagh's Aidan O'Rourke has stressed that his side must get things right for this Sunday's Ulster SFC replay and not allow complacency to creep into their game.
Peter McDonnell's side led by eight points at one stage in the second-half of last Sunday's drawn Ulster SFC final with Fermanagh, but relinquished that lead to allow the Ernesiders to snatch a late draw at Clones.
O'Rourke believes that the Orchard County cannot be as slow to move the ball last week as they were the last day out if dreams of a seventh Ulster crown in a decade are to com true.
"From my point of view I thought we were too slow moving the ball. Even when we were being effective, we were too slow moving it.
"That wasn't how we were trying to do it. Okay, we played okay to get that far in front but there is no excuse for how we performed in the second-half. There is no excuse for that."
The former All Star has looked back to the performances the team have put in this year and recalled the Armagh's slack pace with the ball at times, and it's something that he has stressed will need to be put right by this Sunday.
"It happened against Down. It happened against Cavan. It happened in half of our League games. We have to sort it out," said O'Rourke.
"We have a week to get it right so we have to sort it out," stressed O'Rourke.
