Limerick manager Mickey Ned O'Sullivan wasn't in the least bit surprised by his side's stunning display which sent Meath crashing out of the All-Ireland qualifiers on Saturday night.
Teenager Ian Ryan led the Meath defence a merry dance as the unfancied Shannonsiders bounced back from the heartbreak of their Munster SFC semi-final loss to Cork in the best possible fashion.
"I always knew we had a very good bunch of players, and tonight they showed just how good they are," the delighted Kerryman said.
"They played exceptionally well and the way I wanted them to which is very pleasing. We had our homework done on Meath and we were confident going into the game we would win.
"But I could not envisage such a scoreline. Meath are Meath and we expected them to make it very difficult for us, but on the night they simply had no answer to our fire and passion.
"We had some magnificent performances out there. John Galvin was superb for us at midfield. He has been the best midfielder in the country consistently over the last 10 years. I make no apology for saying that. He's been ploughing a lone furrow and hopefully he will now get the respect he deserves.
"It's a tremendous lift for all of us after the shattering defeat by Cork, but we must keep our feet firmly on the ground."
