Annacurra and Wicklow loses a great Gael
July 18, 2008
The death took place on Thursday last (10th) of Kevin Fitzgerald, a stalwart of the Annacurra club, from Tomcoyle, Tinahely and a man who served his county for many many years. Kevin died peacefully in St. Columcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown.
It was the Annancurra club that was Kevin's first love but he also served his county by being a regular gateman at the County Grounds and at other venues in the South of the county. Himself and his wife, Theresa were well known throughout the county as card players also, a pastime that could be described as his second great love. His is also survived by his seven children, May, Ann, Pat (Patricia), Martin, Shem, Neil and Ger, sister Nancy, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, relatives and friends.
Peter Keogh paid a nice tribute in words to his fellow Gael saying 'May the soil of his beloved Annacurra rest gently on his noble soul.'
