Bennis predicting Limerick backlash
July 11, 2008
Richie Bennis is confident that Limerick can bounce back from their Munster SHC semi-final loss to Clare with a big performance against Offaly in Saturday's All-Ireland hurling qualifier at the Gaelic Grounds.
The Limerick supremo, who has a fully-fit squad to pick from for the first time since last year's All-Ireland final, said: "The gander is up. We have done everything possible to get back on track. You don't become a bad team overnight.
"We had a great training session on last Monday night week - the spirit was back. Then we trained again on Wednesday, Sunday and Monday. The spirit is back now."
Apart from one team meeting, Limerick have not spent time sifting through the wreckage of the Clare defeat according to Bennis.
"We have no spent our time looking for excuses. We conceded four soft goals that we didn't concede in all of last year - our full back and goalie were the mainstay of our team last year."
He added: "We have a lot of strong individuals, but it is about getting the heads right - we need to be positive."
