MUNSTER U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Last Saturday we hosted a couple of games in the Munster U16 Football Championship sponsored by Golden Vale & The Woodlands House Hotel, Adare. First up North Kerry took on Tipperary with the Tipp lads starting well but Kerry scored two goals before half time to be well ahead. Kerry pushed on in the second half to defeat their opponents despite a fine effort.
With both Limerick and Waterford losing their morning matches they had a second chance in the afternoon match played in Pallaskenry. Limerick lost to a Cork City side back boned by half a dozen players from Nemo Rangers in their morning match played in Kildimo while Waterford were beaten by Cork County. Both teams started well and exchanged points before Limerick hit a golden patch to pull clear with a goal scored by our own Darren Walsh. Limerick continued to add to their tally in the second half and ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 3-15 to 1-7. This win means they now qualify for the Shield Final to be held next Saturday in Askeaton @ 1pm.
Thanks to all the club volunteers who helped out on the day including: Tina Nunan, Siobhan O,Connell, Aaron O,Dowd, Chris McMahon, Darren O,Connell, Danny Lynch, Martin Nunan, Kieran Barrett, Kevin O,Connell, John O,Dowd.
The finals will take place this Saturday, July 12th, in Askeaton, with the Shield Final @ 1pm and the Championship Final @ 2:30pm. Also Pallaskenry GAA would like to congratulate Darren Walsh & Brian Howard who are part of the Limerick panel and wish them and the rest of the Limerick players the best of luck and hope they get the support they deserve.
COMPREHENSIVE START TO DEFENCE OF CITY TITLE
CITY JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1
Pallaskenry 7-26 Milford 1-06.
This was as comprehensive a win as the scoreline suggests with Pallaskenry getting their defence of the City Junior B Hurling Championship of to the perfect start. The direct style of hurling paid rich dividends from the off with the full forward line of Rogers (1-2), O,Brien (1-2) & Hannon (2-3) all on the scoresheet in the first quarter. There was no let up before half time with Damien O,Brien scoring his second and Pallaskenry,s fifth goal to leave the scores @ 5-15 to 0-2.
In the second half it was the midfield and half forwards turn to get in on the scoring act with the two Enrights, Keith & Adrian, and Shane Loftus adding to our already impressive tally. While the management may not have learned a lot from this encounter it keeps our winning run going following the victory in the City Junior B League and sets us up nicely for the County Semi Final this Wednesday against Bruree.

KILLULTA GAELS
CITY/EAST MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 4
Naomh Brid 0-10 Killulta Gaels 1-13.
Our minor hurlers recorded a fine win away to Naomh Brid last Friday evening to maintain our 100% performance in the City/East Minor Championship after 4 rounds. This was our toughest encounter so far and was made even harder when after just five minutes we lost midfielder Aiden Lunn to injury and had to rejig our team around. Willie Griffin was once again on form scoring at will from both frees and play following good work by those around him.
Darren Walsh and Cian Hayes in defence, Chris McMahon, Ronan Liston & Pat McCarthy all put in fine displays. James Carey in goals dealt with anything that came his way and was helped by good work from Seamus McKeogh & Tommy Brett. Peter Nash & Danny Lynch both impressed when they came on to show there was depth in the squad to keep the management team on their toes.
Team: James Carey, Cian Hayes, Seamus McKeogh, Tommy Brett, Darren Walsh, Ciaran Ryan (0-1), Steven Hodnett, Chris McMahon (1-1), Aiden Lunn, Shane O,Brien, Eoin O,Brien, David Keating, Ronan Liston, Pat McCarthy, Willie Griffin (0-8, 0-3 f).
Subs: Robert McKeogh for A Lunn (Inj), Peter Nash (0-2) for E O,Brien, Kieran Barrett for C McMahon, Brian Howard for P McCarthy, Danny Lynch (0-1) for R McKeogh.
Unfortunately the U16 footballers return to action has been delayed as Sean Finns were unable to field a team last Wednesday July 2nd, but the hurlers are out this Wednesday, July 9th, away to Allaughaun Gaels in Tournafulla.
